RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE USE OF THE CORK SIGILLO IN THE VERSIONS FOR STILL WINES
BOTTLING AND CORKING
Sigillo can be used in most corking machines, preferably in those equipped with jaws with four sliding elements. It is recommended to follow these rules:
- Do not use corking machines with heated jaws.
- The corking machine must be serviced according to the recommendations of its manufacturer.
- The fitting punch must enable a correct cork positioning at the contact, must be featured by a good centering and verticality, and must not show cracks nor breaches to prevent the cork surface from being damaged.
- Remove any cork dust and different residue from the corking machine and from its transport systems.
- The jaws of the corking machine must not have rough nor sharp parts, must be kept always clean and must have a closing diameter of at least 16 mm. Anyway, it is advisable to check, before corking, that the cork surface is not damaged by the corking machine.
- The bottles must absolutely be perfectly flushed and dried, and must not have paraffin or lubricant silicone residues inside the neck.
- The wine temperature at the bottling should range between 18 and 20°C. It is also advisable not to expose the product at excessive temperatures. Should you need to bottle your product at temperatures below the above values, it is necessary to adopt the air pre-evacuation system in your bottling plant (see bottling with pre-evacuation).
